Elementary Summer Institute 2024

Effective core instruction is critical for all learners. In this session, grades 3-5 educators will unpack the components that lead to effective comprehension instruction, including why some students struggle. Educators will leave with strategies to enhance core reading instruction focused on time-in-text with Wonders, including: Paragraph Shrinking, intentional note taking to answer the weekly essential question, and effective questioning strategies for collaborative conversations. We will utilize the CORE Teaching Reading Sourcebook and IES Guide Improving Adolescent Literacy: Effective Classroom and Intervention Practices as we connect research to practice.
